Since potatoes "Linda" and "Sieglinde" were taken off the German market, outraged farmers and scientists have pushed for a review of plant variety rights. Europlant GmBH who owned rights to both potatoes, pulled the breeds off the market just before the 30-year monopoly right expired.  In this article Cambia's Deputy CEO Marie Connett-Porceddu discusses the open source alternative.
