What is Genetic Resource Indexing Technology?
Genetic Resource Indexing Technology is concerned with genetic resource conservation, identification and use. The 'pump-priming' technology for this portfolio is CAMBIA's Diversity Arrays Technology, DArT, which was developed by CAMBIA's former Chief Genomics Scientist, Dr. Andrzej Kilian, and which has been patented by CAMBIA.
CAMBIA provides the right to use this technology through a Genetic Resource Indexing Technology BiOS License. CAMBIA has also licensed this technology non-exclusively in all fields to a spin-off private company, DArT Pty Ltd., which can provide genotyping services for those who prefer to purchase services rather than use and improve the technology themselves for their particular species of interest.
This technology is already being used commercially to enhance molecular breeding activities in wheat, barley, apple, forages, tree species, rice, cattle and sheep. Information about some of the improvements that have already been made by many users can be seen, and discussed, in the BioForge Diversity Arrays Project.
