- This two-day summit in Abu Dhabi brings together members of the World Economic Forums network of Global Agenda Councils from over 80 countries. The global experts will identify the latest trends and explore risks on the uniquely designed topics such as food security, climate change, financial stability and geopolitical risk. Richard is on his third term on the Global Agenda Council on the Intellectual Property System, with over a dozen other thought leaders in IP, and will be working to increase transparency and equity in the system.
- CBSG Workshop on Open Source Biotech

- 4 October 2011, Wageningen, The Netherlands
- Invited by Centre for Society and Genomics in the Netherlands, Richard Jefferson will attend the Centre for BioSystems Genomics (CBSG) workshop on Open Souce Biotech as the Keynote speaker at Wageningen University. Richard will be presenting Cambia's experience with Biological Open Source, our views on open sourced research and technology and life sciences enabled innovation and how equitable innovation for negelected opportunities or weak market signals can only be achieved through patents being a key part of a new standard of open, transparent and public, global innovation cartography.

- The International Network Conference on Ethical and Social Aspects for IPRs for the Life Sciences- Agrifood and Health, is organized by Centre for Society and Genomics of the Netherlands and held on the 29-30 September 2011 in Brussels. Richard Jefferson is invited to give The Keynote Lecture, titled "Beyond BIOS: Innovation Cartography as a Systemic response to System Dysfunction". In the presentation, he will outline the origins of and lessons from Cambia's work, including the BIOS initiative and Patent Lens, and the steps necessary to create a disruptive open global platform to render the innovation system transparent, understandable and navigable, and to create a system of equitable access to the Zeroth Human Right: 'freedom to innovate'.
